Brain Injury Center is a unit within Habilitation & Health, a service within Region Stockholm with special expertise in disabilities.

Brain Injury Center consists of an adult team and a children's team. We are located at Sabbatsberg Hospital in central Stockholm, close to bus, subway, and commuter train.

Brain Injury Center provides long-term interventions for adults who have suffered moderate to severe acquired brain injury and who fall under LSS person group 2 or 3. The catchment area of Brain Injury Center is the entire Stockholm County.

We work in a cross-professional team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, speech therapists, and psychologists. We are a wonderful, dedicated group with a lot of knowledge, and our work is characterized by enthusiasm and a strong commitment to our patients!

About the position:

The speech therapist's tasks include assessment of speech, language, and communication impairments as well as dysphagia. The tasks also include providing consultation and advice to people in the patient's immediate environment, prescribing aids, and some treatment. Interventions can be provided both individually and in groups. Collaboration with other authorities and healthcare providers is also part of the work. The work is carried out in close team collaboration and takes place both on and off the unit, e.g., during home visits or visits to daily activities. Assessment and measures for problem behaviors in patients after acquired brain injury may also be part of the speech therapist's tasks. We document in the Take Care system.

About you:

We are looking for a licensed speech therapist with clinical experience working with adults who have suffered acquired brain injury. You have experience in assessing communication and dysphagia and have a strong interest in teamwork.

Further education in speech therapy and acquired brain injury is an advantage.

To thrive in the role of speech therapist at Brain Injury Center, it is important that you are confident in yourself and have the ability to adapt depending on the situation. You appreciate having many contact points, see the advantages of being part of a team with different competencies. At the same time, the work requires a good ability to work independently, to structure and delimit tasks. You have good social skills and enjoy collaborating with others. Furthermore, you need to be engaged, flexible, and unpretentious. Interest and experience in development work and research are highly valued, as well as the ability to embrace new methods.

Employment form:

Permanent position at 60% with start on March 2 or by agreement. Possible opportunity for an increase in working hours.

For patient-related work within Stockholm County's healthcare area:

  • background checks are applied before the decision on employment according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for background checks at employment.
  • employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment examination, according to current directives, which is done through occupational health services before employment.
  • in addition to Swedish professional license, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is required. The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed staff with patient contact.
